Mid-term Exam Blog Post: Visual

For the mid-term exam blog post I wanna introduce about "Visual" more like visual perception for human. The reason why I pick this topic is because I am Psychology major and studying about visual perceptions. Many people may think we can visualize our world because we have eyes. But the primary factor that we can see is because of our brain. In other words, our brain creates our visual world. The reason I choose this photo from Flickr is because this photo really relates to visual perception that "h.koppdelaney" have. This photo, I assume, must be done editing by Photo shop or something. So, some people says that this is not actually the real world, but this is somewhat real world. Because when we see something with eyes and when we imagine something or dreaming something, we are actually using same part of the brain, which called the occipital lobe. So, the photos that made by "h.koppdelaney" is actually same as what he have seen with his eyes because imagination some visual thing and seeing with eyes are somewhat same thing as I mentioned before.

OK, now I will show you some video clips that relates to visual perception. The most famous theory that relates to visual perception is must be Gestalt theory. Here are video clips about Gestalt theories of visual illusions.

This video tells you your brain creates your vision.

Also, this ones too.

Now, I finally want to mention about how these visual perception relate to Web design and Social media. A large number of Web creators and Web designers consider about these visual perception theories. Even Steve Jobs consider about visual perception to create apple and Mac book.

If you want to know more about visual perception, then check Kuwaitiful, admin, and Flo Hahnel's blog post.

That is all about it.

Thank you for reading my blog post for mid-term.

  1. It's great that you can related ideas you are dealing with in your major to what we are doing in this class. I appreciate your discussion of the importance of the visual to how we interact with the world.

The optical illusions you've shared are mind-boggling. The dancing lady always freaks me out.

What I'd like to see you develop is how to put these ideas into your own digital storytelling projects. I don't see that you've made a connection to ds106 for your midterm practical activity. Please try to do so moving forward.
